SECTION ONE - Getting started & using Internet Explorer
Here's how you get started :-

To begin, look for the Internet Explorer icon (little picture) on your desktop. It looks like this…
Move your mouse until the arrow is on the icon and double click your left button. This will open your programme. Take a moment or two to get used to what's on the page.

There are also two other elements - the browser window, which is displayed under the address bar and the status bar, which is displayed at the bottom of the browser window.

What the elements do…

Address Bar Displays the current Internet address
Browser Window Displays the page you are looking at
Links Bar Provides shortcuts to web pages
Menu Bar Provides access to Explorer's menu commands
Status Bar Displays connection status at bottom of window
Title Bar Displays programme and current web page title
Toolbar Provides shortcuts to menu commands

Using your toolbar…

You will get on much more quickly if you learn to use your toolbar shortcuts as soon as possible. They are the main tools you will use to explore the World Wide Web. Here is a quick run-down on what they are and what they can do for you.
