If you would like to start a CRC in your area you need to find the answers
to a few questions:-
- Who
would use your new CRC?
Contact
local organisations and find out if they would use it.
- What
sort of equipment and facilities do you need?
Look at the
equipment available in other CRCs. Find out what people in your community
would want to use.
- What
level of use would your CRC have?
Would
you need to open during the day? Evenings? At the weekend?
- Do
you need volunteers to help run your CRC?
Are
people readily available or would you need to find your helpers? Is someone
willing to act as the Co-ordinator? Do you have a Treasurer?
- Where
would you house your CRC?
CRCs
do not pay rent or rates, but they can make a contribution towards lighting
and heating costs. The host organisation can also have at-cost use
of the facilities and equipment.
- What
are the minimum requirments for a CRC?
You
will need publicly accessible room, big enough for your equipment, people
and a working space. It should have good lighting, ventilation,
security and power points.
If you would like more information about, or any assistance to setup a new
CRC, please contact our Support
Officer, using the Contact form.
