No CRC near you?- no problem!

If you would like to start a CRC in your area you need to find the answers to a few questions:-
  • Who would use your new CRC?
Contact local organisations and find out if they would use it.

  • What sort of equipment and facilities do you need?
Look at the equipment available in other CRCs. Find out what people in your community would want to use.

  • What level of use would your CRC have?
Would you need to open during the day? Evenings? At the weekend?

  • Do you need volunteers to help run your CRC?
Are people readily available or would you need to find your helpers? Is someone willing to act as the Co-ordinator? Do you have a Treasurer?

  • Where would you house your CRC?
CRCs do not pay rent or rates, but they can make a contribution towards lighting and heating costs. The host organisation can also have at-cost use of the facilities and equipment.

  • What are the minimum requirments for a CRC?
You will need publicly accessible room, big enough for your equipment, people and a working space. It should have good lighting, ventilation, security and power points.
